This trip was like no other. We went to Mecca to perform our Umrah. In Arabic, the word Umrah is derived from I`timar which means visit. Umrah consists of the performance of a set of devotional rites in the Masjid ul Haram in Mecca. These rites also form an integral part of Hajj. Umrah may be performed at any time of the year and as many times as one wishes. The Qiblat being the direction to which all Muslims pray towards points to the Holy Kaabah which is situated in the Masjid ul Haram. And what an awesome sight it is indeed! The Kaabah was built by Abraham and his son Ismael (peace be on them). This is one city that never sleeps, there are people peforming the Tawaf (Circumbulation) around the Kaabah at all times.
We also went to Medina and visited Prophet Muhammad's (peace be on him) mosque, Masjid an Nabawi and his grave and graves of his sahabats.
